Rakhi brings over 15 years of hands-on nursing experience to medical malpractice defense litigation. As an attorney at Kelly, Rode & Kelly LLP, she applies her extensive knowledge of hospitals, nursing homes, pediatrics, wound care, and geriatric care to rigorously defend healthcare providers and institutions in complex malpractice cases. Her firsthand experience with patient care and medical procedures allows her to evaluate claims with a critical, evidence-based approach.
Rakhi earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration from St. John's University, and went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate from Thomas Cooley Law School.
Before transitioning to law, she built a successful career in the financial services industry, specializing in financial crimes. She is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and holds a Series 7 license. This expertise allowed her to work extensively in regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and financial investigations. She conducted in-depth analyses and case dispositions related to potentially suspicious activity, including money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes, ensuring compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, and other regulatory frameworks.
A dedicated member of the legal community, Rakhi serves as a Board Member of the New York City Bar Association. She has held leadership positions as Chair of the Minorities in the Profession Committee and Secretary of the Compliance Committee. She also actively participates in pro bono initiatives supporting children with special needs.
Beyond her legal career, Rakhi is an avid traveler with an insatiable curiosity for exploring the world. She resides in Nassau County with her two sons.
