Kiel M. Doran joined Kelly, Rode & Kelly LLP in 2024 with extensive experience in defending lawsuits involving complex construction accidents, premises liability claims, negligent security claims, and subrogation matters. He comes from the staff counsel’s office for an insurance carrier that specialized in insuring high-end condominiums, cooperatives, and restaurants where, in addition to vigorously defending his clients, he helped train other departments in contractual risk transfers and identifying high risk exposures. Prior to the staff counsel’s office, Mr. Doran worked for a large insurance defense firm where he specialized in litigating labor law claims, negligent security claims, construction delay claims, premises liability claims, and in representing condominium and cooperative boards in disputes brought by their owners and shareholders.
Mr. Doran earned a BA in legal studies from Quinnipiac University in 2009 and his JD from Pace University School of Law in 2013, graduating with honors. He is admitted to the New York State Bar, the New Jersey State Bar, United States District Court, District of New Jersey, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. In his free time Mr. Doran enjoys skiing, golfing, rock climbing, walking his dog, and watching rugby.
